Exploring India 2009 – Mumbai (Bombay)
Oct 03
Ah… finally I am in Bollywood. Together with Thierry; a skateboarder from Belgium who visited India almost every year and Wendy; an adventurous grandmother from South Africa who has penchant for jewellery disembark from the air-conditioned train into the famous Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST aka Victoria Terminus) around 6am. It is famous not only because it is a UNESCO World Heritage site but it is also where the famous Jai Ho dance is performed in the award winning Slumdog Millionaire. However, I was a little uneasy in the train station because many people were killed during the deadly terrorist attack back in 26th November 2008. We hailed a cab to bring us to the chaotic Colaba where we decided to share a room. After that, we met Marcel from Switzerland when we were having breakfast in Leopald Cafe. Leopald Cafe is also another target during the terrorist attack. I spent the day sightseeing on foot before I bid farewell to everyone and continued my journey to yet another exotic location in Rajasthan; the land of the Maharajahs. I regretted I did not do the Jai Ho dance in CST before I leave.
