Exploring India 2009 – Udaipur
Oct 05
Ah Rajasthan! Mere mention of its name, images of grand palaces and forts, Maharajahs riding on top of the gigantic and yet gentle elephants, fearsome warriors with their bended swords riding proudly on top of white horses, oasis with exotic parrots and squirrels in lush greenery surrounded by vast desserts came into my mind. Only this time it is real. My first Rajasthan city is Udaipur and it blows my mind away with its stunning night scenery. I spent the whole evening exploring the City Palace alone while waiting for the most magical sunset in my life. As the sun shyly hides behind the mountains spreading its glorious red rays across the sky, the birds sing and dance to the chanting of Hindu prayer on one side with Azan for Maghrib prayer on the other side. The fairytale-like Lake Palace slowly lit up makes it looks like a gem floating on Lake Pichola. Now, that is what I call magnificent. No surprise one of the James Bond movies (Octopussy) was filmed here. I spent a good few hours alone here until the guard chase me out.
